I'll keep this to just football.
The 2020 season is considered a "freebie". If you were on a roster no matter your academic class or whether your team played any part of a season or none at all, this year does not count toward your four years of eligibility or five if you redshirt.
This would mean if you were on a college team as a 2019 Freshman and you took a redshirt along the way, 2024 would be your last year. If you were on a team as a freshman in 2020, your clock started in 2021 and your last year will be 2025 presuming you redshirted.
Medical redshirt years are on a case by case basis so I won't put that into the equation.
Am I right?
Secondly, after 2025, would this affect the number of players in the Transfer Portal or will make no difference at all.
