How Big is This Game to Florida?

Well, let's think about this, with an attempt to place ourselves in their shoes.

1. It is an opportunity to knock off the #3 team in the country, on national television, at home, in front of a sellout crowd, with Lord knows how many recruits there watching.
2. It is an opportunity to start 5-0, go to Missouri next weekend and win there, and be 6-0 when they head to LSU in 2 weeks. This will keep their program in the spotlight and make them legit contenders for the SEC East when they play Georgia two weeks later, no matter what happens at LSU.
3. It will provide a serious boost to the positive energy nationally that has been created since the hiring of McElwain. They will make a big jump in the rankings. They will pound their chest (and rightfully so) that the Gators are back and ready to contend for titles again. This will no doubt provide a shot in the arm for their recruiting.

Make no mistake about it, we have a BIG X on our chest Saturday night. We aren't going Gator hunting, they are going Rebel hunting. How we react to being the hunted Saturday night will determine how the rest of the season goes for us, because being the hunted is something we had better get used to.

I have been worried about this game since the summer. I did not buy the Tennessee, Auburn, or Arkansas hype. I honestly sold on all 3. I did buy Florida and Texas A&M. Why? One word. TALENT. Both schools have a plethora of it and both got huge boosts from coaching hires. (McElwain and John Chavis. I know, Muschamp at Auburn. I didn't buy. I know Ellis Johnson is a dang good DC, so I did not expect much bounce from the Muschamp hire) We will not have a sizable advantage talent wise against Florida. Our DL should dominate, but other wise this is a fairly even matchup talent wise.

Do not kid yourself, Florida will be pumped for Ole Miss. McElwain's presser where he questioned our respect for them is just the tip of the iceberg. This side of the table, being the hunted, is new and different. I am very interested in how our team reacts. So interested, I am making my first trip to the Swamp. Go REBELS! Beat Florida!
