How do you get a spot at The Grove?

Hey guys, Husker fan here. Me and some friends make a road trip to a game each season, this year we went to Purdue, it was a great time and a lot of fun. We almost came to Ole Miss this season but it just didn't work out.

I was wondering about The Grove. Is it basically impossible to get a spot there for a game? Do they still open it up on Friday night and you can run and stake out your spot? Do the frats make sure to always get a spot in The Grove?

Next year we would like to make it out there to Oxford and enjoy the atmosphere so I was just sort of looking ahead and trying to get some information on the history and how things are done.

If you haven't found out by now, essentially what happens is everyone runs at the same time (like 6:30 on Friday night) and you can have people closer to the grove to hold a spot while your tailgating equipment is run in from another farther away location. Fraternities and sororities tend to get large spots, and most people go through a tailgating company now (which is stupid and unfair to people that can't afford it).

Most everyone already has their spot staked out from the first game on. If I were you I would set my tent up early Saturday morning in an available spot. No altercations then. Many have been getting the same spots for years.

Don't even bother with trying to stake a spot. Just wear your Neb gear and enjoy the southern hospitality. Meet Ole Miss fans and tell them that you always wanted to see the grove and go to a SEC game. We will welcome you with open arms and fill you up with booze and food.

This is a great suggestion. By doing this, you will not have to worry about finding a spot and hauling a bunch of stuff into the game. You can be assured that will be well hosted and shown lots of good Southern hospitality.
