work with us not having a full class last year and this transferring out? Only knowledgable informed need respond.

Actually they do. They can only have a total of x players on scholarship. X - transfers = more scholarships to give.
I was thinking to the the 13 wasn't all in one year by t I knew that trNsfers figure in some way. A transfer can be replaced either by a juco or freshman with 4 years. I presuMe The 85 rule still exists. I'm not an authority on those rules

The transfers have no bearing on either the reductions to the 85 overall or 25 initial grants per class. Transfers have no affect on the sanctions regarding those.

IIRC, the sanctions against OM lower the 85 limit by 11 over 3 classes and the initial grants are lowered by 13 over either 3 or 4 classes, I'll assume it's 4 classes.

That means for the 2018 class, OM can have no more than 81 scholarshipped players on the team, and likely sign no more than 21 in the class.

when you are not trying to troll , you actually post factual stuff .

I always post factual content about Ole Miss. The problem is, most of you are homers that have no interest in hearing the truth, you want to be lied to.
No most of the time you are an ignorant troll and you post with an agenda

Because I'm not posting what you want to hear. You want to hear that Ole Miss did nothing wrong, and this is all about the NCAA, the SEC and Bama ganging up to get back at Ole Miss for winning too much.

Right?

no because you post agenda driven nonsense .and pretend you are some how coming from the high ground. When you just came off porbation for will redmunds car . Leo lewis admitted payment in a time frame that would be automatically an LOI charge . 3 cases for MSU since 2000 even with Your former AD in NCAA ranks . So take your Schtick and find a life

Actually if anything, I'm just laughing at your agenda. Most of you think Ole Miss was victimized by an NCAA that was on a 'witch hunt'.

Division 1 schools may have a maximum of 85 athletes on scholarship (football). Thus, athletes transferring in and athletes transferring out affect the maximum number (85). If a school loses 5 scholarship athletes through attrition (transfer, giving up football, academics or whatever) the baseline number of 85 on scholarship is most assuredly impacted.

That said, schools may sign 25 new athletes annually (this year December 20, 2017 and February 7, 2018) as long as they are down to 85 by August, 2018, when all scholarships are finalized. Obviously, 25 a year times 4 years equals 100 so a certain amount of attrition from transfer, academics, etc., is built into the guidelines.

Ole Miss dealt wisely with its impending sanctions regarding scholarship limitations by giving up 3 or 4 scholarships in prior classes. Thus, for the 2017 year Ole Miss limited itself to 79 scholarship athletes. For the coming 2018 season Ole Miss will limit itself to a total of 81 scholarship athletes. Because they planned ahead and self imposed, 2018 will be the last year Ole Miss will be forced to play with less than the full 85 limit. Starting with the 2019 season Ole Miss will have a full allotment of 85 scholarship football players.

As far as the upcoming 2018 class is concerned, Ole Miss and every other school, is impacted by the 85 limit insofar as it must not be exceeded come August 2018. The number of graduating seniors, transfers, and all other types of attrition must be taken into consideration. Prior to the recent announcement of 4 or 5 transfers Ole Miss was going to be limited to signing only 15 or 16 to stay under its self imposed limitation of 81 for the 2018 year. Now, with the transfers that number has jumped up to 21 or 22. This is not brain surgery.

Thanks that sounds plausible. Now if we can get some unhappy non contriving campers to leave, we can improve our long range picture.
