I’ve done these my whole life, but I’ve got a spot on my new farm that I want to do a bow plot. I’ve never really done a true “no-till” plot.. always bushhogged, plow, seeded and drag.
Obviously planting this is dependent on rain, and I know that. I would like to do it one evening this week or this wkd. I’ll be monitoring weather and it doesn’t look great.
Either way - for any of you that’s done a no-till.. what’s your go to method? I’m going to spray and seed with a winter wheat, brassicas, crimson clover and radish - probably. Been reading that some say spray first then seed, some say seed then spray. Obviously I know you want “seed to dirt” as much as possible. Using glyphosate and it won’t hurt the seed either way as it’s post emergent. The field I’m doing isn’t super overgrown.. jusy scraggy grassy weeds and it isn’t over chin height for the most part. I’ll get germination off the wheat.. it’ll sprout on payment. The other stuff seems to be the recommended options for no-till plots.
Just looking to see if anyone has a good method and results.
