This article is from 2012 but it had me rolling. There are entitlement bombs, and then there are modern Greeks. This particular situation epitomizes why they are going belly-up. The island of Zakynthos has a population of about 35,000 people. Apparently, they have a problem with blindness. Are you ready for this? There were at least 650 people on the island claiming that they were legally blind! That is over 10 times the rate in the entire world. There were well over 600 claims that were complete frauds. Of course. When the EU investigated, they found many people driving their cars when jet black glasses, just to look as though they were blind. That's right, they wore blind glasses as they were driving. Can't make this up people.
