I am not a conspiracy guy. On the conspiracy scale, I am normally about a "4". For instance, I think that Oswalt acted alone, though I would not bet much money on it. However, what is happening with the '16 presidential election has me thinking that Trump is in cahoots with Clinton.
I do not like Trump, but I do not think he is stupid. (I do not think he is that smart either.) The only two explanations for the Trump campaign's ineptitude is that Trump is the dumbest person to ever run for President or he is tanking it so Clinton will win. Just over the last few weeks, we have the following:
1. On the day that Comey gave his statement completely eviscerating Hillary Clinton, Trump decides it is a good day to defend Saddam Hussein;
2. Trump's wife plagiarizes a speech at the convention. They have access to hundreds of speech writers, and that was the best they could do?;
3. Last night, Trump counter-programs his own convention. During the primetime speech of the mother of one of the Benghazi victims, Trump called into the O'Reilly show.
This is just a sampling. If you had a Clinton campaign operative running Trump's campaign, he could not be doing any worse. If you go back further, you could literally come up with 100's of pointless, counter-productive actions taken by Trump and his campaign. Trump is a long-time supporter of the Clinton's, and there is always the infamous phone call between Bill Clinton and Trump shortly before Trump announced he was running. Trump has spent virtually no money on advertising despite his boasts that he could and would fund his own campaign.
Hillary Clinton is as weak a nominee as the Democratic Party has put up in my lifetime. If she was against a generic Republican, she would be significantly behind. More and more, I am starting to believe that the only person she can beat is someone who is intentionally trying to lose.
