Plausible deniability. Blevins has spent time talking to talking to Miller. In that time, he should have been able to figure out that Miller had ulterior motives that were readily apparent and Miller's character was lacking. Blevins is young, so he thought he could dramatize Miller's story, leave out the other side and claim journalistic license. He didn't seem to get that he would be challenged by other reporters/radio hosts/etc. for leaving out vital information from the story. He was basically forced into revealing that Miller had a previous domestic violence charge, yet he seemed to stake his reporting on the fact that the charge was dropped. He can't win the Pulitzer unless he can pump up the story's importance, LOL.

If he had gone to the hearing, he couldn't have slanted the reporting to Miller's side. I'm betting he knew that 1)Miller was representing himself 2)The extension of the protection order was going to be denied because Miller's charges were flimsy at best and a flat lie at the worse. Since he stayed at home, he was able to once again make Laremy the bad guy.

Maybe I need a tinfoil hat, but that's the way I see it.
