Homo Sapiens evolved large frontal lobe which gives us the capacity to modulate racist attitudes and actions provoked by baboon brain. With sufficient frontal lobe modulation there doesn't appear to be racism, but it is always there in the shadows of the ego (well maybe not for the Dalai Lama).
The reason we are unable to respond to the big issues of our time because we are not identifying with the tribe of American, much less human, but rather subsets within the United States.
Politicians have intuitively understood this and use this knowing to mobilize people to vote for them and their cause(s). Fox News have been using these techniques for years. Check out the web site and notice subject matters are designed to agitate against other, to leave one with feeling that other is ahead, has unfair advantage, etc. Listen to the emotion in the speech. Take a week vacation from Fox and notice how you feel.
Now with social media and the underlying mathematical models being developed by entities such as Cambridge Analytica, stakes are getting very high.
Now any complex system such as our country requires governance in the same way as our bodies require a brain. There are legitimate conversations to be had regarding the scope and size of that governance, not if we need that governance.
There appear to be two job groups within this governance system as designed by our forefathers. The first is those of government worker, whose job is primarily that of service. The second is that of politician, those who theoretically are there to do the work and expresses the wishes of those they represent and find compromise within the group and make laws to codify those decisions. There are also a number of parasites and other organisms that live withing the governance biosystem.
Sadly, our system has been corrupted by money and the ability of individuals and small groups to buy politicians, so now the politician is representing the interest of the monied group rather than their constituent. While always a factor in the system, now malignant since Citizen United.
So much is made when pictures are made of a politician with a person who symbolizes the other tribe. This distraction and noise keeps the system going.
The President has a unique position, to represent all Americans. What has made Trump toxic to so many people is that he has been symbolically true only to his 35-40%. This was played out in the outrage over his Charlottesville comments.
So let the talking points which have been programmed into baboon brain begin. I'm sure insults will be there because there is a lot of fear in our people.
Hopefully, there will be the possibility of dialogue.
