In the podcast discussion about Arkansas and Jeremy Johnson, I thought that Jeffrey (I think it was Jeffrey) but someone, commented that we have all off season to essentially talk ourselves into thinking what we want or suspect may be true.
Arkansas finished with wins over a limping Ole Miss, an LSU team that was ready for vacation, and a Texas team that was just terrible. And Arkansas beat writers and journalist took to the internet and airways all off season and spoke about how good this team was going to be in the 2015 year. I knew (I even mentioned it on this message board), knew that Arkansas was in big trouble when I heard one of their beat writers comment on the Rebelgrove Exxon podcast this summer that Arkansas wouldn't miss those four defensive stars that graduated because of the scheme that the hogs run on defense. Those comments were reminiscent of reading Ole Miss Spirit reports pumping up David Cutcliffe and Ed Orgeron coached Ole Miss teams that sucked.
Eventually when the media folks start repeated the idea over an over and over, then everyone else picks up on it. Jeremy Johnson went from being a young QB that played pretty good in limited action in 2014 (by the way a QB that couldn't even beat out the defensive back for the QB position) to a Heisman trophy candidate leading a National Championship team based upon nothing but hearsay and pimping by Auburn and SEC media members.
Again, the idea of Arkansas was going to be a juggernaut and Johnson was going to lead the World in QB rating ran down hill like a snowball all through the summer and pre-football weeks, all based upon hearsay and listening to other media members.
