Some quick hits from audio-only Sunday Zoom with Kiffin:

Defense played extremely well. Penalties were critical mistakes, but outside of penalties, defense was physical, attacked, played better than previously thought. Offense was explosive, made plays but screwed up on a couple of red-zone plays. Dart made a great decision on INT, but it was a poor throw. Georgia Southern executed the onside kick really well.

The OL has had injuries, playing without three significant interior linemen. That has limited exact rotation. Defensively, played without two starters and another lineman, so rotation isn’t what it would be if everyone were healthy.

Have to play some SEC games before statistics really come into play. Haven’t played teams that are very good statistically. Wouldn’t make any huge statements yet. “Let’s play a little more.”

I’m excited to be at home against Kentucky, a team that won yesterday and was a play away from beating Georgia. They always play hard against Ole Miss and they have great defensive players all over the place. Great length. Georgia struggled against them. Tough opponent.

Wouldn’t make too much of previous games against Kentucky. Both teams are different than they were a couple of years ago.

It’s always been the best conference and then you added two of the 10 traditional powers in Texas and Oklahoma. It’s extremely competitive and it’s distanced itself even more. Rosters improve. Kids all over the country are going to the SEC and there are really hard places to play. Teams go on the road in this conference and struggle offensively because they are really hard places to play, especially at night.
