First off Ole Miss will never be a pound the rock team...they aren't built that way. But in the last two drives they worked got at least a first down each drive, and was a little unlucky that Walton didn't pick up the clincher on 3rd and 6.

The run game in Hugh Freeze's offense serves one purpose and that is to manipulate defenders. He doesn't care about TOP and pounding on a defense.

Ole Miss hit the edges several times with Wilkins in big moments...From there they made Alabama respect the QB run. There were no chunk plays really save for Wilkins 18 yd run and the Kelly scramble. But Ole Miss' willigness to do it and GAIN yds forced Bama to commit to stopping it which led to what IMO was the game winner. It was a direct result of Ole Miss' run game manipulating Bama. They had to respect the edge run from the back, and they had to respect the QB run and they committed to stopping it and it left Cody Core wide open for the easiest TD he will ever score against a defense that nothing is supposed to be easy.

It was simply the play of the game and was a direct result of the run game.
