So far I’ve had no real issues with my “old” shoulders - maxing 245 on decline bench. This was after an MRI following a car accident - herniated disc in my neck & tendinitis in my shoulder from the impact.
He told me NOT to “lock” my arms after each rep. Only go a little over 3/4’s & bring it back down. Keeps stress on the pecs & relieves most of the pressure off the shoulders.
So far…he’s 100% correct. Even though I wasn’t necessarily in pain, I’m not sore at all the next day. If you’re having shoulder problems, you should give this a try.
We still give each other crap over The Rivalry tho!!
Added: I’m averaging 2 less reps on each set. Was doing 22 reps @ 115 lbs. Now it’s 20…and it’s a struggle. 7 reps @ 205…now 5.
