I'm sure Matt is a nice enough guy and loyal Rebel. I just don't think he's ready yet to be the Rebels coach. During the CAL broadcast, they stated that his previous experience included Offensive Coordinator. Does any Rebel fan really believe that he was calling plays under Freeze...No Chance! He was the O-line coach for a team that could never and still can't run the ball. Matt could very well be great coach, but he needs time at a smaller school to figure it out. It's just not his time. We need someone with head coaching experience on some level. Also during the CAL broadcast the announcers said Longo's offense only has 28 plays. Could that be correct?
Our passing game looks deadly behind Shea's arm. Let him sling it every play and wear down the pass rush. Make it fun, so much so that every player wants to stay regardless of what the NCAA does. We need someone with the Freeze mentality. We are going to run a fast offense that puts up points and attracts top tier talent. We are going to recruit with the big boys and back down from no one. I understand many will laugh since he is no longer here, possibly due to his recruiting. Hell, at least he went for the big targets and put us on the map. He made Ole Miss relevant again and in every conversation with the top programs. In my opinion he was a hell of a coach. His personal life is in question for me, but not his coaching.
