A lot more later, but here are some notes from Mike's portion of the PC
Cages and pitching indoor inside have been done for several weeks and are being used — even though complete underneath completion is April.
There were 29 players as freshmen and sophomores last year and instead we have some experience now. Have 14 upperclassmen this season. And the sophomore now played a lot last year.
We leaned on the young guys too much and left them out there. Not best move by me but result is the guys are tested and had really good falls and are ready to compete in a league that is unforgiving. When you don’t play well it gets exaggerated quickly.
We return 7 of the starting 9.
We pitched it well last year. Return 7 of best 9 ERAs from last year. Experience all the way around and makes for a good season and that’s why we are excited.
Rotation:
Rolison
Feigl
McArthur
A lot of depth and talent when you look at Roth, Holston and Ethridge who could have been weekend starters.
It’s no doubt about our closer with Dallas Woolfolk, who did that for Team USA last summer.
LF - Dillard
CF - Golsan
RF - Olenek
3B - Keenan or Elko
SS - Kessinger
2B - Servideo or Adams
1B - Fortes
DH - Rowe or Cockrell
C - Johnson (Fortes will also get a start behind the plate this weekend)
Have to be better pitching on Friday night in the SEC and Ryan will do that for us.
Golsan and Feigl are captains
Rowe and Dillard are best candidates to have some power. Then Elko and Keenan and the first basemen. Fortes is going to have a tremendous year.
Dillard is going to be a mainstay in the middle of the lineup.
Leadoff is the tough one. Good chance that Servideo or Adams leads off on opening day but we’ll play with it a little bit.
