If you don't know, a state monument for the 6,000 Mississippians who fought at the battle of Shiloh was unveiled yesterday. It sits in the northwestern corner of Rhea Field where the 6th Mississippi took 70.5% casualties while making several charges through the camp of the 53rd Ohio while being raked from the left by canister fire from Waterhouse's Illinois battery. The event was well attended and the speakers did a good job. The only problem was that there were a number of people who couldn't forget politics for a few minutes to honor the men and just wanted to focus on the flag. Here are some pictures
