What kind of intel is out there about the top prospects in the state? Jamonta Waller is committed to the Gators but I wonder if that was an early commitment and we could keep that kid at home instead of going 3 states away. JJ Harrell and Terrance Hibbler are committed to State and you would think this is a prime opportunity with the direction of that program. Harrell is particularly interesting given that he is from just outside of Oxford and seems to visit Starkville more than some of my people come into the office these days LOL. It always seemed that Ole Miss and State have had big advantages in parts of Mississippi based on geography, but I don't know if that's the case these days. I'm not as dialed in as I used to be, but damn it would be huge to haul these guys in.

We have seven 4/5 star recruits currently committed. If you look at being REALLY competitive and deep, a class of 15 five/four star guys takes you to that level. We need to do that annually but it starts with doing it this year and getting that first domino to fall. Does this program have the juice and the clout to haul in 7-8 more 5/4 star recruits to this class? It's not all about stars I know guys! However, stats play out when you recruit enough of those guys. Want to know why Bama finds a way to win when they're not that good? When you have enough of those types of athletes, you just win games and you even win them ugly. Auburn has 15 4/5 star recruits committed already too. Is that because they have superior NIL, their history, or are they just working harder on the trail? Ultimately, when we lose a Jordan Watkins, we are in much bigger trouble than the competition, and it will likely cost us a game we might have been in (UGA comes to mind).

I know I'm preaching to the choir but these are my morning coffee thoughts from my office in ATL. We are primed to go 10-2 in my opinion, with big wins over Tulane, LSU, Arkansas, Auburn, and Texas A&M. I think we will lose to UGA in Athens, and in another year, we probably would be 11-1 (schedule is brutal and poorly timed with this group), so can we take advantage of it?
