Oh boy!!!!
It really started hitting me hard yesterday watching him pack his stuff. It was in that moment standing at his door I thought back to 25 years ago when I told my Daddy I was ready to go make my own way. That it was time I become a man. I have never moved back. My daddy stood in the hallway while I packed and asked, "son you sure this is what you want?" Of course I thought it was. My mom couldn't be found it seemed when I was packed and ready to leave.
I text her last night and told her I finally get it. It isn't that you are mad it's just man so hard to let go. It's very hard to let go of the lead rope and just let him walk.
But it's loaded up in the truck and we are on the way to Oxford where hopefully the kid I raised lives the next six to seven years and becomes his own man.
Very weird being so very proud but yet so sad.
