I'm 45 and the earliest games I really remember are from 1989.

Mark Young is the first Ole Miss quarterback that I remember and he finished in 1988.

John Darnell was QB in 1989, and he threw a pass to Reid Hines with 30 seconds left to beat the Dawgs in VHS.
I remember seeing that play in person and being very excited. That TD by Hines was was his only one of the year.

The next week Ole Miss played Tulane and Rich Gebbia caught a TD with 5 seconds to go to win the game. I remember listening to that game on the radio with my Grandaddy. That TD was also Gebbia's only TD that year.

That was also the year that Chauncey Godwin made two interceptions at Florida to beat them with Emmitt Smith. I remember watching that one on national TV.

Since I have went this far down memory lane.

That year the Ole Miss football team stayed at the Hallmarc Inn in New Albany the night before games at home. (How times have changed) That hotel was right across the road from my grandparents house. I remember walking over and meeting several football players. They were real life heroes to a little boy who loved Ole Miss.
