As a fiscally conservative Democrat, I hope the Republicans with the President and control of the Senate and the House will practice what they preach and start things moving with the deficit and national debt.
However, I don't like their chances. They had that opportunity between 2001 and 2009 and failed miserably. If Trump gets his tax cut and spending is not cut drastically, then the national debt will continue to spiral out of control. What they have shown in the past, is taxes get cut and spending goes up, not down. I hope I am wrong but five years from now when we are able to look at what happened between 2017 and 2021, we will find out.
