The folks that have their feet entrenched in the "Hugh Freeze can do no wrong" camp would've not been swayed by a 2017 disaster. Why?
Freeze would've approached that situation like he always does. He would blame someone else.
In this case, he would've blamed the impending doom of the NCAA sanctions that were coming after the season and said that cloud over the program affected his on field results.
And, the same people now who revere the man would still be defending him and deflecting from the fact that the man built a decent product at Ole Miss but couldn't get out of his own way to sustain and build it into something greater. Thankfully, he did enough with proof of concept to get an actual elite coach like Kiffin to take a shot with it and build it into what he should've.
