but I'm almost pulling for the Rebs against my Tigers. Reason being that a loss might be enough to get Les off the payroll and hire a real coach.

My guess is Miles stays and the OC is let go. LSU is running an offense from the 1950's. Fullbacks are obsolete in most offenses today. But the fullback is critical in LSU's offense.

Exactly who do you plan on getting that is more productive that Miles? I lived around you corndog smelling Aholes for 7 years and the inflated egos and sense of overworth is astounding. You better hope Miles doesn't quit and you end back to being the team you were before Saban got there. Remember those days, you know the ones where you sucked horribly?

What do you mean? As a Rebel I rather liked Curly Holman.

You Lsu fans should be satisfied with 8 or 9 wins a year y'all are no better than ole miss

Whoever the head coach is at LSU he'll have an in state recruiting advantage. For example, what other state would let a felon out of prison if his brother signed with LSU? What other state would arrest a kid who was leaving just to visit another school out of state? Louisiana is the best state for keeping in state kids at home. A few get out but not many. Also, there is a lot of NFL quality kids in Louisiana. Problem is there are no future NFL QB's in Louisiana. Dak Prescott may have been the most qualified for the NFL and we'll have to see about that. He was no more an accurate passer than Jennings and Harris are his first two years. He just happened to play at a school less demanding to excel by the fans. Where Miles has gone wrong is trying to take kids who have only played spread offenses and trying to make them pro style QB's. It hasn't worked. The solution is simple, get a pro style QB or change the offense. The latter is easier. With a pro style QB you also have to add great O linemen to protect him.

I'd like to say we will help you out, but my cynical side thinks we will be the cure for what ails him.

I will also say that your game with Arkie was painful to watch. Your D almost pathetic as ours.

Ranch please clue me up about the 2 incidents you referenced in your post. I haven't lived in LA since 2002 so I'm not up to speed on these events. Did either or both happen recently? I'm curious. TIA

Better get in early on the Justin Fuente sweepstakes. He's looks like the real deal as a head coach and should have a really big payday in the near future.

Yep. His stock is going down little bit after their two upset losses, so he will probably be trying to sell. He's a good coach.

My concern with JF is that he's won a lot of games in small ball and might be unable to win in the big leagues

Isn't that what counts the most? He took a Memphis program that was worse than a dumpster fire, whatever that could be, and made them ultra competitive. I don't think Urban Meyer or Nick Saban started out at the top. Meyer proved himself at Utah and you know the rest of his resume'.

I fear we let you down Littleton. We seem to play you closer down there than in ox. Hope not but we are in search of D!

If I were choosing he next head coach for LSU I would contact the following coaches
1 Gary Patterson
2 Pete Carroll
3 Jon Gruden
4 Jimbo Fisher
5. Chip Kelley
6 Mark Dantonio

Fisher is a scumbag on an epic scale. If you want your team to consist of the D block from Angola then Fisher is your man. I think LSU can do better.

Probably true but FSU has a NC since LSU won one. Fisher would be 6th in order of preference in my opinion.

Of your list there are about 2 on it that would consider LSU a step up from their current job. One of them isn't even coaching right now and the other keeps getting shunned by the playoff committee.

Only want to hire one. I'm not convinced Les will be fired or that any of the coaches I listed would take the job. I am not sure any of the coaches I listed will be offered the job if there is indeed n opening.

You are delusional to think anyone on your list would come. I pray the Orgeron leaves for another local. You would be wise to consider Fuentes Kiffin Mcilwain or even Mullet ! He's no dummy coach.

I think LSU could pay Patterson, Dantonio or Fisher enough to lure then to B.R. Would also consider Fedora, Rodriguez and Willingham. The problem for LSU if they make a change is getting a better coach and not just a different coach. It almost feels like a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.

Trust me we know the dilemma all to well. I'm always shocked at the applicants at om. A we don't have nat championship but we don't have a big purse so above avg is passible while we hope. You however aren't ok with 9 wins so your coach must endure more lip service . Fedora would be another curly IMHO an Rod is a worn out name. You don't think orgeron gets a shot? He left us in great shape as he did USC.

Reb, I'm not saying you are wrong but I think LSU can do better than a coordinator. I would be okay with Fisher even though he's more or less morally bankrupt. If he wins that solves a lot of ethical problems I guess. I really like Gary Patterson and Kyle Willingham. Btw what's your opinion of Dabo and Todd Monken at USM?

Dantonio is being given the keys to the kingdom, if he can figure out how to avoid the one loss every season he will be royalty at Michigan ST. i can't see him leaving to come down south. Currently LSU is not a better job than he has unless he is only looking at money.

I don't see Patterson leaving TCU anytime soon for any team. Willingham may be an option. Dabo may be Saban's replacement, one day. Don't see him leaving Clemson for LSU. Don't really know about Monken.

I still believe Fuente may have the most upside...Maybe Willingham, too.

Problem I have with Kiffen is I Don't trust him as a guy who can do a better job than Les. As for Strong he'd leave LSU for Georgia in a heartbeat if/when Richt is done. As for Patterson You could be right but I'd make him a 5 year 35 million offer plus perks and see what happens.

Did you mean Smart? Yes, that is a possibility that I also thought about....As for Strong, he may get a call from the U.

Kiffin has the morals of an ally cat but can coach . Smart isn't going to coach vs bama every year . Dabo no way! I don't know anything on Monkem. Houston's Herman might be a candidate. You need an up and comer rather than a retread. IMHOIMHO

Yeah I get it . But an up and comer from a non power 5 is not unproven as a hc just the sec. Freeze for example proved at ark state. Herman at Houston. Lsu fans need a reality ck as the sec west domination is a y'all order as even Saban is learning.

Good point z, and I agree. I wouldn't have a problem with Matt Campbell or Doc Holliday as they could be had for less money and might be just the breath of fresh air the program needs. Also Campbell is under 40 years old and, if successful, could be around for a long time.

1-3 are total pipe dreams. 4 is what I would bet on. 5 is a bad match and 6 would be the best option.
