I have mixed feelings about playing "Dixie". I like "Dixie" and "From Dixie With Love". But the reality is that political correctness rules. The media are controlled by the Left, and the media dictates what is "racist", etc.and what is not. So it's probably best that the songs and symbols are gone as it's a losing battle for Ole Miss to keep them.
That said, it's undeniable that the band has gotten worse over the past couple of seasons, and that can be attributed to having nothing to offer to get the fans pumped the way "From Dixie with Love" used to do.
It looks to have shrunk in membership. It has no pep or vavoom. The pre-game show is pretty much a joke.

Florida gets some, but they're not illegal for very long, because U.S. immigration laws push Cuban "refugees" to the front of the line for green cards and eventual citizenship. I am no fan of the State of California's travel ban. I think it will be at least as ineffectual as Trump's travel ban. It encourages ill will among sister states, and I think that is very counterproductive. I am pretty confident that the Cal game in Oxford next fall will proceed as planned. Either the California travel ban will be rescinded, or some form of exemption from that ban will be recognized.

I have a question for you concerning the federal travel ban: The President certainly should be concerned with protecting the security of Americans, but what, exactly, would banning people from six specified majority Muslim countries - for only 120 days, as Trump proposed - do to enhance American security? The stated rationale was that the 120 day period would give the Administration time to develop a program of "extreme vetting" that would address security issues. Although the travel ban never went fully into effect, that 120 day period has long since come and gone. Shouldn't that "extreme vetting" plan have been fully developed by now? If so, why is the Administration continuing to press for a travel ban?

Moreover, do you honestly believe ANY vetting program is going to work? Most of the terrorism in this country over the last several years has, untortunately, been committed by U.S. citizens. If Trump wanted a travel ban, I think he would have been better advised to propose a permanent ban, with a procedure for individual exceptions on a case by case basis, but he apparently did not want to fight that battle.

Lack of band funding is not related to anything to do with mascots or songs. Funding and little to no scholarships is why our band has been smaller than others for many, many years.

It was underfunded when we played Dixie and had the mic guy on the sidelines dressed as colonel reb.

Well that's what you claim. I don't remember any published stories about underfunding previous to this year.

And if the band was indeed underfunded, that shortfall has been exacerbated by the irresponsible behavior of bjork.

It's not first come, first serve btw. There is a quote of green cards issued for each nationality. There's just a F load of Mexicans who want to immigrate compared to every other country.

Well I am not sure this is the place for it, but it seems to me if people want race issues to become a thing of the past. Stop honoring people or having this day or that day based on the color of skin. Honor them for what the as human being did leave the race out of it.
