Well, I started earlier today think about the positives and such and started coming in off the ledge.
Yes we have issues and no we aren't winning the NC this year. But, it's football. It's sports. It's life. Shit happens. It just does and sometimes it isn't explainable.
Texas two weeks ago had just fired their AD and Strong was on the ropes. Oklahoma was walking through everyone. What happens, Texas runs for over 300 yards! That's ridiculous. Would Texas beat Florida or Memphis? TCU got very lucky to beat K State then K State turns around and can't do anything with Oklahoma. A team that just gave up 300 yards rushing and K State couldn't score! Ohio State is lucky to be undefeated. Bama was lucky we didn't beat them by 3 scores and then they look all world since.
The players are stepping up in interviews and such and saying the right things. Kelly is becoming the leader that we need. I have gone from thinking he may try the draft after the year to hoping and praying he will come back for another year. The kid is rewriting his story and I will always be a fan of a kid doing that. I am very proud and happy for him. The coaches aren't stupid. Contrary to what some of us think. Coaches can be hard headed and stubborn but they aren't dumb. They earned there spots by busting their asses for years and succeeding in the profession of coaching football. Some of us need to remember that. These guys aren't failures. They got where they are for being smart and knowledgeable about football and busting their asses at it. I have 100% confidence in Coach Freeze that he will bust his ass in trying to turn this thing around. Is there anyone here that questions his love and commitment to Ole Miss? Anyone here think he wants to fail? Maybe he can turn it around maybe he can't but you gotta have a pretty low opinion of a man to think he doesn't care and isn't trying.
I truly believe this team's problem for the biggest part is mental. It's all about heart and pride. Who wants to compete? Who cares about looking like they are playing with some passion? For those that say, "stop calling plays that the players can't do." When the players can't do it because of effort, what do you do? I mean if you tell a CB to play tight and play the curl route and he moves up tight but then bails out and backpedals the whole route then what do you do? I mean the kid isn't listening and isn't competing. You do just what the staff did. You take him out put another guy in but the problem is he isn't very talented. Our starters have to compete more. Plain and simple. Coaches can try to hold them accountable but in the end some leaders in the locker room have to hold guys accountable. Players like Nkemdiche, Treadwell, Elston and Kelly.
But anyway I'm ready to come back inside. We are 5-2 and I think we can still win some games. Even if we don't maybe it's what we need for Freeze to be forced to take a good long look at things and make some changes. It will only force him to get better.
Remember it's just a game. We have a coach that cares and will give his all to get better. Just remember what we had 2011. That isn't what we have now guys.
