Design a trophy similiar looking to the Stanley Cup trophy with a big base at the bottom with an engraving of the Mississippi River from Minnesota to the Gulf on it.
At the top have a huge cup with Miss.River water in it.
Let's face it football players fighting for a wooden trophy with an iron-medal magnolia flower on it is weak and doesn't really project power or strength.
It would captivate or bring a certain aura of grandeur, greatness, power and strength.
LSU and Louisiana folks would like it because the two major cities of the state are located on its banks and the culture, size, importance of Baton Rouge and New Orleans would not have been achieved without the Miss.River.
Ole Miss and Mississippi folks would like it because our state shares the same name as the River. Mississippi has the longest land-River border of any state on the Mississippi River in the nation. The MS River Delta was made by the mighty river and great plantations, farms, the blues and other aspects of life and culture in Mississippi owe their existence to the Mighty Mississippi. Not to mention that Ole Miss is officially the University of Mississippi. We are the most successful SEC program in the state as well and LSU is the SEC power in Louisiana.
It just makes more sense and it's something men would fight and strive for instead of a trophy with a flower on it.
