I had never heard of the influencer couple-- Jett and Campbell Puckett "Pookie." Apparently, they are new TikTok influencers, she attended Ole Miss. Dailymail has an article on them today, accusing her of being racist for attending an "Old South" Frat party. Here's the link Ole Miss Influencer. Basically, she's being accused of being racist for "'cosplaying as a slave owner' at a plantation-themed party during her days as an Ole Miss college student." The article goes on further to say, "Several unearthed photos of Campbell dressed in 'southern plantation glam' while attending the event have been posted on TikTok and Reddit in recent days - sparking a wave of backlash against the newly-minted influencer."
Personally, I think this stuff is so overblown. She's basically in a cotillion style dress; if it was at any other university, no one would be saying it's "slave owner cosplay," however, because it's Ole Miss, it's immediately assumed racist. Not a great idea to have a plantation themed party, pretty sure they're outlawed now, but we're never going to get past the "Ole Miss is racist" if this stuff doesn't stop happening. Just thought it was interesting that an international news organization has a story on Ole Miss. This isn't the first time either.
