Ole Miss OT Laremy Tunsil arrested for hitting stepfather, allegedly defending mother

Laremy Tunsil was arrested Friday in Oxford, Mississippi, on domestic violence charges after he punched his stepfather, according to ESPN.com.

A source told ESPN that Tunsil hit his stepfather, Lindsey Miller, after his stepfather shoved his mother, Desiree Tunsil.

“His stepfather shoved his mom and Laremy punched him,” the source said. “It’s as simple as that. He was defending his mother.”

Tunsil is projected to be a first-round pick in the 2016 NFL draft, and he’s one of the top offensive linemen in the country.

Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze said he was proud that Tunsil protected his mother, but obviously he could have handled it a little differently. Freeze said Tunsil and his mother have since pressed charges against his stepfather.

“We can confirm that Laremy Tunsil turned himself in and was arrested for a misdemeanor, domestic violence-simple assault,” Freeze said in a statement provided to ESPN. “The incident occurred Thursday night and involves Laremy defending his mother against his stepfather.

“Laremy realizes he could have handled it differently, but I am proud of him for standing up for his mother and protecting his family. Laremy and his mother have also pressed charges against the stepfather. As we gather more facts, we will act and make decisions accordingly.

Is it normal for a entire family to move from Fla to Oxford when their son signs on with the Rebel Bears? Will Mr. Miller tell some things he knows about the program now that the good Rev. When Tunsil fled the scene of the assault did he take his mother with him in the stolen car or did he leave her with the mean, terrible, man that was pushing her but was not arrested?.......Was the car REALLY stolen or was it only in mean ole Miller's name because that was what was given to Tunsil to drop Georgia and sign with the Rebel Bears.
