SERIES HISTORY VS. NC STATE
The two programs first met in postseason play nearly 100 years ago, as members of the Southern Conference. A founding member of the conference in 1921, the Wolfpack were joined by Ole Miss in 1922, with numerous schools in today's ACC and SEC including Alabama, Clemson, Kentucky, UNC, and many more.
The Rebels and Wolfpack first met in the 1928 Southern Conference Tournament, where Ole Miss entered as the No. 13-ranked team with a conference record of 5-9 during the regular season. Ole Miss took down NC State 40-35 in the opening round of the tournament en route to a conference championship, defeating LSU, Kentucky, and Auburn to win their first such title. NC State would get the better of Ole Miss the following season, defeating the Rebels by two in the semifinals before beating Duke in the title match.
Following a 71-year gap, the two schools met on the basketball court again in 2000, this time in the NIT quarterfinals. Playing in Raleigh, N.C., the Wolfpack defeated the Rebels 77-54 before falling in the semifinal game to eventual champion Wake Forest.
This will be the first game between the two programs in the regular season, and the first game played in Oxford.
SCOUTING THE WOLFPACK
NC State has begun the 2023-24 season with a 4-1 record, picking up wins over The Citadel (72-59), Abilene Christian (84-64), and Charleston Southern (87-53), before taking down Vanderbilt (84-78) at the Vegas Showdown. The Wolfpack most recently fell to BYU 95-86 in the second round of the Vegas Showdown. NC State won 23 games a season ago, earning a spot in the NCAA Tournament where they lost to Creighton in the opening round.
The team has four players averaging double-figures in scoring to begin the year, led by Casey Morsell at 15.0 per game. He is joined by fellow starters Jayden Taylor (14.8 per game), D.J. Burns Jr. (14.6 per game), and DJ Horne (12.4 per game).
Similar to Ole Miss, NC State has been one of the best in the nation at taking care of the ball, owning an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.70 (No. 19 in NCAA). They rank in the top-10 in turnover margin (No. 7, 7.8) and fastbreak points (No. 9, 19.8) nationally as well.
ESPN ACC/SEC CHALLENGE
This past June, ESPN announced the matchups for the first-ever ACC/SEC Challenge, which matches up the two conferences over two days across both men's and women's hoops. The Rebels and Wolfpack play on day one of two, which features 14 games for the men across Tuesday, November 28 and Wednesday, November 29.
A NEW ERA BEGINS
With the hiring of Chris Beard last March, the Ole Miss men's basketball program is prepared to take the next step forward, bringing in one of the most successful coaches of the last decade.

The senior helped lead Ole Miss to victory in their first road game at Temple with 26 points, the second-most scored in a game for his career, while tallying a career-best seven assists.
Flanigan currently ranks second in the SEC in points per game at 20.2, and is one of just 38 players in the nation to average over 20 per contest.
"I TAKE THE WORK, FLIP IT, ACROBATIC"
