It's amazing to look at the five most populous countries in the world and their respective medal counts:
1) India 1.45 billion... 0 gold.. 6 total medals...
2) China 1.42 billion 39 gold.. 90 total medals...
3) United States 345 million 38 gold.. 122 total medals...
4) Indonesia 284 million 2 gold.. 3 total medals...
5) Pakistan 251 million 1 gold.. 1 total medal...
It not how many people you have, it's about identifying people with exceptional athletic skills and improving them with training and support..
Nevertheless, it's interesting to note population doesn't necessarily correlate with the number of medals you win in the Olympics...
