I’ve been working at a Gold Level Microsoft Partner for over a year now and am looking for some side work. Large consulting firms are a scam from what I’ve seen so far. I get paid pretty well for being a functional/technical resource but it is insane how much they charge for my time (> 5x my salary). Two people recently quit our team leaving me as the only technical resource in my area out of a company of 100 people. I’m juggling 8 six-figure projects now working 60-70 a week and the clients think we have a whole team of developers.
Basically, I’m not comfortable how the firm misrepresents our capabilities and over promises without going out to hire more people while Partners are making 7 figures. From what I’ve seen most firms are the same way or worse. I would sleep easier if I could transition to helping out smaller companies and do honest business. Feel free to PM me if you’re interested in Microsoft D365, Power Platform, SharePoint, or related services. I also have more limited experience in web development, Python, Java, and Azure Dev. I’d be more than willing to start out working for free.
