We have the Google Nest WiFi mesh system throughout the house — 4 nodes currently. Good coverage, quick enough for streaming multiple devices, etc.. But we have a problem with it cutting out 3-4 times a day. It’s not the internet service — the mesh nodes/routers will shut down for extended periods unless I reset them via the app. We both do some of our work from home, all TV services are streaming, and have 2 toddlers.
I need something that has high speeds and works more consistently. I’m looking at the ASUS XT8 (4 nodes) and the Netgear Orbi. Any recommendations from the more tech inclined? I think we need 4 nodes for full coverage based on where the fiber enters, where we are most active, and bedroom + upstairs coverage.
Even better would be a fix for the Nest devices in some obscure setting or better placement I’m unaware of — they’re approx 40-50 feet apart.
