As many of you know I am originally from KY, so I also follow their basketball program.
It seems like the Kentucky administration is somewhat paralyzed on what to do, and Cal has been out of town.
The sentiment is to fire him with the vast majority of the fans. But of course that is expensive, and there is deep concern that there is no obvious and exciting candidate to replace him. The buyout would not be due all at once, and would be offset if he took another job. I doubt there is no momentum in that area, although there was an SMU rumor.
On one of the boards I saw Beard come up for the first time, but there wasn't a lot of excitement.
The unrealistic choices are clear: 1. Jay Wright, 2. Billy Donovan, 3. Dan Hurley None of those will happen, but you know how searches start...
