People say stupid things. It's been that way since long before my time and will exist long after I'm gone.
Yet, it seems like we live in an age where we want people to say interesting things, but if they even approach the arbitrary line, there's a mob mentality of trying to get them fired. I personally don't understand it. What's gained? Do you honestly think that Cowherd thinks that people from the DR are ignorant? Do you honestly think that Hulk Hogan is the world's biggest racist?
Yet, we must fight for their termination. It saves humanity. Cowherd and Hogan can now begin the long arbitrary process of being declared "rehabilitated", or some other BS like that. It makes no sense.
Every adult on earth is prejudice, about race or gender or religion or politics, and many are all of the above.
Look what happened to Mel Gibson's career. Is he anti-Semite? I have no idea, and maybe his career would be in the same place it is now, but it just seems like a shame. Gibson is to blame for sure, as are Cowherd and Hogan, but where should those acts rank on the scale. They didn't murder anyone. They used words.
Why do we live in a world where people can get so offended? There are things that people could say to hurt my feelings, but to the point where I openly tried getting them fired, or even to the point where I contacted them on Twitter is virtually impossible.
What am I missing? I guess my perspective is wrong, but I just feel like we ALL live in glass houses, and despite all of us casting stones in some form or fashion, some act like the stones coming back at them are boulders. Maybe I'm just weird. It's just sad that you can't even say anything remotely worse than PG-13 rated stuff in your own home in case someone is recording you.
