Neal or Chase said on the podcast several days ago that since CHF was fired the NCAA would probably not add any more penalties to those already self-imposed by Ole Miss. What is the reason (s) for this line of thinking? Also, if this is the case why was CHF not fired along time ago thus avoiding the present situation? TIA

They were hoping to keep him since he was about as good of a coach as OM can get.

I don't see how that could possibly be accurate. The chancellor went out of his way to make the point that coach the firing of Freeze had absolutely nothing to do with the investigation, and that they stood behind him and all of their previous statements regarding their compliance with the NCAA. As such, they are basically saying that firing Freeze should not in any way affect the penalties that they receive, because the two were unrelated, i.e. if they hadn't found out that he had been using escorts (for years), he'd still be the coach at Ole Miss. That's straight from the Chancellor's mouth.

Those comments are based on the belief that the goal of the investigation was Freeze losing his job. The NCAA has broken more of their own rules than OM has, I doubt they are going to be satisfied with only Freeze.

Read the Moncrief story yet? Continuing operations of an investigation after communicating that the investigation had concluded, breaking the confidentiality agreement close to a dozen times (it does apply to both sides), and collusion.

They didn't allow OM to interview the key witness against them. Leo Lewis. Against NCAA rules for sure.

Why do OM fans think everyone is out to get them? OM is the one caught breaking rules, it should be pretty clear it happened now and the OM fanbase has been kept in the dark, everything was denied, from the top of the program on down. Now we all know that wasn't the case. I know OM wants the best season possible, Feeze's departure limited options, but a staff with no connection to Freeze would have been the best route.

Now OM, OM boosters or whoever is wanting to sue everyone because OM/Freeze broke the rules of a voluntary organization. No one forces OM to be a member of the NCAA. Follow their rules and you wouldn't be in this position today. LL and JK, I don't even know who that is are not the reason for all of this, Hugh Freeze and his coaching staff were, Kiffin was a known cheater when he was hired, it was Freeze's plan from the beginning. He is the reason OM is facing sanctions, not kids he offered $ to even if they took it and still didn't come.

Well I don't know about everyone but it is obvious at this point that the NCAA is grumpy. When was the last time immunity was offered to rival players after 3-4 years of investigating came up relatively empty on their suspicions (2013 class), and really short on anything severe involving the staff and administration? I'm going to conclude you haven't read the NOA. Literally lists a student athletes father figures lodging as an allegation because he wasn't his biological son and a Memphis FCA leader who takes student athletes to any school interested as a booster for season baseball tickets a decade ago. I'll let you look up what level those received.

I think that's a gross and unrealistic minimization of what has been transpiring and what the NOA alleges as a whole. Ole Miss did some really bad things - REALLY bad - under this staff and the staff before it, as well as in other sports which suggests a culture of unethical behavior rather than an isolated booster or assistant. OM has stonewalled them at every turn and has reached out to media members in order to spin and misrepresent what's happened. Honestly, I don't blame the NCAA for being 'grumpy'.

How can you trust what is coming from OM, they have misled OM fans from the beginning? Freeze has turned out to be the biggest hypocrite in college sports, 2 weeks ago he had the support of 90% of the OM fanbase. If not for dragging Houston Nutt's name into the mess he would still be the coach at OM. A miscalculation by someone in the OM administration or staff.

OM fans need to hope the NCAA doesn't offer Freeze a deal of a shorter show cause penalty, or maybe none at all, for telling all he knows, might have been a good plan to pay him the buyout with a confidentially clause attached. After all Freeze has already shown he has no loyality to anyone other than Hugh Freeze and what he wants.

Yeah, no way it goes from 'none of this happened on Freeze's watch' to 'well it should all go away now that Freeze is gone'... the issues at Ole Miss go back before Freeze and extend beyond the football program. There is a proven culture there and thats what the NCAA is targeting. Hopefully Freeze wont want to burn OM because it would make him look even worse to potential future employers.
