After re-watching the game there were two major problems that started against OleMiss late in the third quarter. Both the problems were on defense. Offense was great. Our LB's were nowhere to be found. LB's were never around to stop the QB scrambling around the edge or the RB behind the tackle. The other problem was that there were blown coverages by the safeties. The LB issue was simply lack of talent. The safety issue was hindered by the fact that Elston left game due to injury and Brown couldn't hold up anymore due to his first game return from injury. Hilton was having a great game at Corner but was moved to Safety because of the problems. When that happened Corner play went down. I guess you could say the DB problems were due to not enough depth.

I usually don't go back over past games but I just happened to run across the game on SECNetwork. I'm only commenting on it because it was such a big game and I wanted to compare last year to this year if it happens again. I believe LB play should be a little better but I don't have faith in it yet until I see it. Hopefully our stacked DL will give opposing OL too much to worry with and free up the LB's. DB depth should be better because of how many good CB's we will have and it freeing up Hilton to play Safety. I believe we will get better play from backup Safeties also.

As a brief note and not saying that I am blaming him because he was trying to make a play... Bo reaching with the ball for a first down near the goal line and fumbling the ball was huge. Even with the fumble, the late defensive issues, and Tunsil being out, OleMiss still would have had the game if it wasn't due to the unfortunate injury/play with Treadwell.
