I am reading the unauthorized Saban biography. It isn't as much a great read as it is a great book of facts about his career. Loads of info on whom he coached with and seasons he was involved in.

The biggest thing that stuck out so far is that he was 0-3 in his first bowl games and was out scored 134-49! A particularly bad showing after the 1996 season Michigan State was soundly beaten in the Sun Bowl 38-0. The book makes it clear that Saban was in the process of jockeying for the New York Giants job. (Which he was reportedly offered but without the control he demanded so he turned it down)

Michigan State responded with a raise from 150K to 190K
