I exchanged DMs with Mississippi Gulf Coast QB Phillip Short late Friday. He visited Ole Miss earlier this week and said "Ole Miss stands as one of the top schools on my list. The atmosphere was great, the coaches were outstanding and the players were friendly and welcoming. I think the visit was beneficial."
Short said he's also looking at Texas State, Florida, UCF and ULL.
"At this time, no one school has a lead on any other school," Short said. "I will be making a decision within the next 3-4 weeks."
A couple of sources familiar with Short's situation believe he will walk on at Ole Miss this summer and provide depth to the quarterback room. Short did not say that, obviously, so we'll see.
Speaking of quarterbacks, I'll link this one out front as well, but it could be coming down to Ole Miss and Arkansas for four-star QB Marcell Reed. He spoke with Rivals' Eric Lammers earlier this week.
