Seems a lot like LSU with Gerry Dinardo

having lived in Baton Rougr in the mid 90's I remember Gerry Dinardo taking over an LSU program that had 6 straight losing seasons. Dinardo got off to a fast start with his "Bring back the magic" campaign. Recruiting picked up and they brought back the traditional white jerseys for home games. His first 3 seasons all resulted in winning seasons and rankings in the top 15. He beat then #1 Florida in 1997 and a week later lost to us in Tiger Stadium. It was never the same for him after that win against Florida. They ended up losing 13 of the next 17 or something like that before he was fired and Saban was brought in.

I'm sure I'm making too much out of the comparison, buts it's inexplicable how a talented team can beat a #1 or #2 and then the wheels come off. It won't be the first time if that is indeed the case.
