Haves IMHO. Both are very talented and are needed for their positions right now. If we can land those 2 we are pretty damn well set. That would leave maybe 5 openi unless we lose Pennamon. He's hard to figure. Hopefully he wants to be the run balance for Shea's pass attack but who knows? Anderson has lsu in front of us now on one site that lists in order of preference. We've been too confident on him I fear and Coach can def recruit. I hope we haven't let this talent get away. Hopefully I'm overly worried.

Simmons is scheduled for official visit in Hattiesburg Wednesday (the day after new head coach is named). Simmons' brother is already a starter for Southern Miss defensive line. Don't be shocked if Simmons chooses Eagles over Teddies.

if simmons is considering the eagles over the rebs, regardless of his brother, he must not have dreams of being in the nfl.

I see that site that moved lsu in front of om after the visit has placed us in front again with Anderson. No commits this week by anyone we want looms well imho

This is the most incorrect assumption around. The NFL selects player based on talent, not school. This is also what colleges do when recruiting. If the kid has talent and potebtial the NFL scouts will find him.

Bill, you are correct. This is even true is they have to go to an obscure directional school.

The reason schools are important is that upper tier programs get much more exposure, and winning teams in Power Conferences have more money and also better facilities and better coaches allowing the student/athlete to be coached up enough to be sought by the NFL.

There are four Mississippi college players who moved on to the NFL and became the best player in their position when they were playing: Jerry Rice, Walter Payton, Ray Guy, and Brett Favre. None of the four chose $EC teams to play for. I doubt there is any handicap for not playing college ball in the $SEC.

Right. Because everyone wants to play for a directional school in front of 20,000 people. Good luck with that.

The NFL scouts look for talent everywhere and they find it. About the only advantage there is in a big school is that those from say LSU, Ole Miss, AL sometimes play sooner because of the on field tougher experience, but generally they have high talent. One example among many. Colson of the Saints. An NFL scout found him at an obscure football school. As good as he was it took him the first year before he reached the level at which he needed to play. On the other hand, Beckham and Landry became stars almost immediately. But Colson has been in the NFL as a starter, what? 7 or 8 years because of his talent.

The net is very big because all the teams together bring everyone with good physical skills to camp as free agents and look at them.
