FBI Warning to Facebook Hinted at Hunter Biden’s Laptop
In an interview on the Joe Rogan Experience, CEO Mark Zuckerberg recounted a conversation with an FBI representative in the months before the 2020 presidential election. According to Zuckerberg, “The FBI basically came to us, some folks on our team, and was like, ‘Hey, just so you know you should be on high alert. We thought there was a lot of Russian propaganda in the 2016 election, we have it on notice that basically there’s about to be some kind of dump that’s similar to that so just be vigilant.’”
Zuckerberg did not state that the FBI mentioned the Hunter Biden Laptop specifically, but when the New York Post broke the story in October 2020, Facebook issued a statement that the company was “reducing its distribution on our platform” so the story could be “fact checked by Facebook’s third-party fact checking partners.” The move was quickly followed by Twitter, which suspended the New York Post account for two weeks prior to the 2020 election.
