I said it over the weekend and I’ll say it again, I don’t buy any of the stories out there. I hate Ross as much as anyone but there is no way he went rogue and had to backtrack. I also don’t think Stoops ever had an offer, even verbally. My opinion is that Stoops initiated discussions and there were conversations and those conversations were leaked and somewhere in between both parties moved on. Stoops used this as leverage, not for more money, but to get the KY fans committed. Outside of beating UL last week, he’s had two very disappointing seasons back to back and the fans are restless up there, they don’t think he’s worth $9.2 annually. They also have to replace a lot of players going into next year.

I also don’t agree with Neal or Chase that he would have been a home run hire for A&M. He’s only more proven than Elko because of longevity, Elko’s first two seasons were much better than Stoops first two at KY. Elko probably has back to back 9 wins seasons if his QB didn’t get injured this year. At Duke!

I think Stoops wants out because his seat will get hot with that contract and the east division is going away.
