Anyone else catch this?
Rick Neuheisel said that - back in 2005 before we hired Orgeron - he (Rick) was on the way to the airport in Seattle to catch a 6:30am flight to Dallas to meet with Boone and Khayat to interview for our head coaching job when he suddenly got a phone call (I guess from Boone).
He was told basically "Sorry - nevermind. We can't interview you after all b/c our chancellor said it wouldn't work out due to your current NCAA allegations".
Our administration couldn't reach that conclusion before the guy booked his flight and the meeting was already set up? Come on man....
But to make matters worse, Rick said his wife got a phone call shortly thereafter at their house. It was Boone. He said something like "Congrats on your husband being the next head coach at Ole Miss. And congrats on being the new first lady. We can't wait for yall to join us".
It turns out Boone thought he was calling Orgeron.....
Rick's wife had to be like "uhhhhh, sorry I think you called the wrong person".
Both Rick and Chris Childers went on to trash "Peter Boone" and Childers told a story about Nutt not being able to even get a nutritionist for the team under Boone's watch, while Bama was giving their players fruit kabobs and the like out at practice.
Man we've come a long way since the ineptitude of that administration.
