2-1 against top 25 teams. Won a squeaker. Got run ruled and run ruled someone.
Here’s my personal impressions:
I’m excited about Elliott. The other two weekend spots should still be open.
McCausland and Hooks looked legit.
Federico is a star. He has to be in the lineup and at the top of the order.
Hill is our best player.
Furniss still isn’t proving himself to be an automatic starter. He’s odd man out. Keep an eye on this due to Mike’s relationship with his dad. He shouldn’t be playing, imo.
I know people are busting Clem’s ass about the offense (and justifiably so) but my biggest question is pitching. Our WHIP numbers were awful. Maddox, Nichols and Took should have been much, much better. They are experienced arms and looked like shit. Hooks, McCausland, Elliot were the best arms this weekend. Spencer was just ok.
28 ks vs 15 BBs on the weekend isn’t going to work long term.
