**DEAR FACEBOOK WARNING**
so my mom is a republican and my step-dad is a retired army general, also a republican...they live in san antonio....so the other day i sent them a text saying "Go Grizzlies!" since they are playing the spurs, in hopes of getting a little back and forth going about the series...he has lived there for years and been a die-hard spurs fan and she moved there a few years ago when they got married and has adopted them(though she still roots for the grizz as well)...the reply i got, and im not shitting you, was
"We don't watch the spurs anymore, after Pop spouted off about Trump! Hope the Grizzlies win it all!"
are you fvcking kidding me?? you wont watch a sports team that youve loved for years because the coach was critical of trump?? dear lord thats sad...and it got me thinking - why are so many older conservatives seemingly still so angry even after "their" guy won? clearly us on the left are angry and disappointed that "our" person didnt win, thats understandable...but why are so many on the right, particularly boomers, still so angry?? i see it all the time...and i had an epiphany last night....its because they're realizing they really didnt "win" anything...none of the things that make them so irrationally angry have changed or will change because trump is in the white house...we are still a nation of immigrants....the queers are still 'out' and can still get married....pot is becoming more accepted and more legal by the day...we are still on the path toward single-payer healthcare...hollywood is still making fun of them...abortion isnt going anywhere...the press is still the "liberal media" to them, maybe even more so now that they are having to constantly hold "their" guy accountable for his bullshit...bottom line - theyve been passed by and they dont like it....and "their" guy isnt going to stop that, much less reverse that...i actually feel kinda bad for them...i sure hope i dont turn into a bitter, angry, hateful old person in my later years
