the real problem isn't talent, or recruiting or line play or that the staff is in year 4 and is almost entirely reliant on the LB's recruited by the prior staff

The real problem is that the team quit trying

Talent is s better than it has been in six year but the on the field effort is embarrassing

Hugh got a much worse team to play much harder years ago

I don't know if:
- the NCAA has the staff scared shtless to the point of distraction
- the coach's Schtick has grown tired and tea, tunes him out
- the team has a serious locker room problem

Or who knows what else, but while $4.3mm a year should guarantee wins, but it should guarantee consistent effort.
