Again, it's going to be a very light visitor list this weekend, as the staff wants to save the trips for next weekend, when Texas A&M comes to town for a night game. I listed the visitors yesterday. There's one more potential visitor, and if we learn more tomorrow regarding his coming, we'll pass it along.
Of course, there is a ton of focus on Jaheim Oatis. It depends on who you talk to, really. Bottom line, however: Everyone believes he ultimately signs with someone other than Alabama. Everyone agrees it's down to Ole Miss and Mississippi State. One strong source believes he'll sign with the Bulldogs when all is said and done. Another believes Ole Miss has real momentum and will ultimately will his signature. It's simply too close to call.
Mississippi State is making a strong push for Ole Miss commitment/wide receiver Larry Simmons, but sources believe Simmons will hold with the Rebels.
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College offensive lineman/Oregon commitment Percy Lewis visited Ole Miss for the LSU game, and the Rebels have warmed to him considerably. Ole Miss wants Lewis now, I'm told, and will go hard after him. Mississippi State is in play also.
Linebacker Jaron Willis, who is committed to Georgia Tech, remains one of Ole Miss' top targets, and my sources believe the Rebels are now in the driver's seat for his signature.
Davison Igbinosun has seen his stock blow up recently -- in a good way for him. Ole Miss remains a major player and is trying to get him back to town next weekend, but the competition is heating up.
Lafayette, La., defensive back Jordan Allen visited Ole Miss recently and could be close to pulling the trigger on a commitment, per sources.
If Khamauri Rogers doesn't end up at Miami, my sources believe he'll end up at Mississippi State. Ole Miss is still in it, but that doesn't seem likely any longer.
Linebacker Stone Blanton, if everything were all about football, would sign with Ole Miss. Everything is not all about football, however, and Mississippi State remains a major concern for the Rebels. He's expected to visit Oxford yet again, but it's a very close call.
Ole Miss is the first offer for 2025 running back prospect Alvin Henderson.
Here's the list for this weekend:
New Orleans offensive tackle/Miss. State commitment Cam East will visit officially this weekend. The 6-foot-7, 269-pounder has a host of offers, and even though he committed to the Bulldogs on June 28, he's set to make the trip to Oxford this weekend.
Four-star '23 quarterback Jackson Arnold will visit unofficially, as will 2023 defensive back TJ Metcalf and 2024 linebacker Jordan Lockhart.
