@flaccid churro made haste for the tavern hall. When he reached the perimeter of Fair Grove, he bellowed a warning: "Keep watch, men! There are trolls about!" The guards gripped their weapons nervously as their eyes scanned the horizon. @flaccid churro called for @bradleywayne upon his arrival, and a crowd soon gathered. @bradleywayne exited the tavern, looking down the slope in front of the building as @flaccid churro stared back at him. Without speaking, @flaccid churro removed the burlap sack from the back of his horse. By now, every drop of blood that existed in the troll's head had oozed its way out. The burlap sack was now painted blood red. It had also soaked its way through the sack onto the back of his horse, staining its brilliant white hair ruby red. In a swift movement, @flaccid churro unfurled the sack. He grabbed the troll's head by the hair on its scalp, hoisting it up for all to see. Its eyes had rolled back into its skull, and its tongue drooped awkwardly out of the side of its mouth. There were no gasps, nor were there screams. There was only complete silence. It was so silent that the crackling of the fire-lit wood at the campsite could be heard from dozens of meters away.

@bradleywayne stared straight into the troll's rolled back eyes. "Where?" he finally asked. "The south slopes, sir," @flaccid churro replied. "At the base of the hills."

"Did you scan the entire area?" @bradleywayne pressed. @flaccid churro was silent. "Were there others?" @bradleywayne asked.

"No, sir. I saw none, other than the one that met his wretched fate." With those words, @flaccid churro tossed the head into a heap on the damp ground in front of him.

"There are always others. There's never just one. I'll ask it again... did you scan the area?"

@flaccid churro knew he hadn't. Rather than tell the truth, he quickly blurted, "I left @RebelYeller21 and @Reb Talking18 to complete the scan. They were with me when the beast fell. I instructed them to approach the hills from either direction, closing in approximately 200 meters from the tree line." @bradleywayne nodded before snapping his head back to attention. "Only two? Where are they? For the love of what's holy, we cannot allow two men to complete a scan by themselves!" @flaccid churro felt the pressure on him increasing, like a hog being slow-roasted over a fire. It was @OleMiss-USMC that broke the interrogation.

"Riders!" @OleMiss-USMC announced from the top of the watchtower. "Two of them!" @OleMiss-USMC looked closer, before looking down to @bradleywayne. "They're carrying the royal insignia."

@5pointsRebel and @windycityreb closed in on Fair Grove. @5pointsRebel carried a banner bearing the royal insignia of Oxfordia. On its left side, red as the feathers of a cardinal. On its right side, blue as navy as a dusk sky. In the middle, the unmistakable emblem of a shark, the most fearsome predator of the deep. In his left hand, @windycityreb carried an official scroll, dictated by the king, himself. Fair Grove's perimeter guards stood down, immediately recognizing the insignia. As they rode deeper into the grove, @5pointsRebel and @windycityreb felt the eyes of men from all corners of Oxfordia raining down on them. Indeed, there was a palpable pressure about the place. When they reached the center they yanked their horses to a halt. The stillness of the grove was unmistakable. They noticeably had every man's attention.

From atop his horse, @5pointsRebel cried out the official greeting of a royal dispatch: "ALL HAIL THE KING!" His face slowly morphed from an emotionless expression to utter disgust when the official greeting was not officially echoed. @5pointsRebel shouted it again. "ALL HAIL THE KING!" There was no response. @OleMiss-USMC scratched the scruff of his beard and smiled as he leaned on the rails of the watchtower. "ALL HAIL THE--" "ALL DAMN THE KING!!!!" There was an instant chatter as heads spun around, searching for the one who said what they were all thinking. @5pointsRebel drew his sword and pointed it directly at @Political_Commenter. "You will relieve yourself of your treason," @5pointsRebel said, "or I will relieve you of your tongue!"

As each of the men reached for their weapons, @windycityreb interjected: "We look for the one they call @bradleywayne."

"What's your business here?" @bradleywayne replied. "The last I heard of the royal guard, they had tucked tail and run completely across the border."

@windycityreb ignored the insult and unfurled the scroll. "BY ORDER OF THE KING, LOCAL BANDS OF MEN THAT HAVE TAKEN TO ARMS WILL DISPERSE! ANY MAN THAT DOES NOT WILL BE FOUND GUILTY OF TREASON, THE PENALTY FOR WHICH IS DEATH BY HANGING! ALL HAIL THE KING!" @windycityreb dismounted his horse and cautiously approached @bradleywayne, handing him the scroll. @bradleywayne immediately handed it to @semeca1. "See that we take special care of that scroll, will you @semeca1?" "Aye, seer," @semeca1 replied, He feigned a bow to @windycityreb before ripping the scroll to pieces, spitting on them as they scattered away in the wind.

"Peasant!" @windycityreb said, indignantly. He returned to his horse, motioning @5pointsRebel that it was time for them to leave. "DISPERSE FROM THIS PLACE, YOU FOOLS!" @5pointsRebel warned.

"But you just got here," @bradleywayne said, causing the riders to stop in their tracks. "If you're going to leave so soon, take a memento with you." He motioned @flaccid churro, who slung the troll's head directly at @windycityreb. His eyes grew wide as he parried it to the ground.

"It's difficult to relieve ourselves of arms and disperse when our own royal guard won't take them up on our behalf." @bradleywayne said.

@5pointsRebel smirked. "There hasn't been a troll around these parts for weeks. If you enjoy hanging on to their mutilated bodies as souvenirs, I will not stand in judgement. It is no matter. The king is returning. When the king returns, he will not have his subjects organized and armed." @5pointsRebel slowly rode toward @bradleywayne as he lowered his voice. "So. DISPERSE. Peasant!" @5pointsRebel spat on the ground at @bradleywayne's feet. "That troll was killed not an hour ago!" @flaccid churro replied. "With my sword!"

@windycityreb retorted. "We have ridden from here to the springs at Holly Bush. There are no trolls. They've returned to their caves to sleep for another season."

"YA BLEEDIN' ID-YUT!" cried @semeca1.

"Go, then," said @OleMiss-USMC. He had descended the watchtower and now stood just a few paces from @windycityreb, looking up to him on his horse. "But before you do, you must make an alteration to your banner. Remove the shark, and replace it with a lizard!" The entire grove roared with laughter. @5pointsRebel burned with anger. "We will go. And when we return, we will return with five hundred men! You will disperse, or you will BE dispersed! In pieces!" The two riders spurred their horses, returning to the north.

********************************************************************

@bradleywayne placed his hand on @OleMiss-USMC's shoulder. "We need men. Ride with me. @RebelYeller21 and @Reb Talking18 are unaccounted for."

"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!" The celebrating men turned silent, spinning toward the south. It was a distant cry that they all knew. @bradleywayne looked to the severed head as the call was repeated. It appeared to almost be....... smiling.
