I put this together a few months ago and never got around to posting it. I did a little research on players Ole Miss signed that never made it to campus. This was made before the current season started, so it may not be 100% accurate. Many not only never made it to campus, they never made it to the bigs either. I know it’s a crap shoot and people have to take the money, but with the changes this day and age, some may be better off going the college route.
UM signees
2009- P- David Renfroe/ 3rd round Red Sox. Retired in 2014/no MLB appearances.
2010- P- Ryan Bolden/1st round LAA/ killed prior to 2014 season. Noah MLB appearances.
2011- OF- Michael Reed/5th round Brewers/ played sparingly for Brewers,Braves, Giants btw 2015-2019
2012- P- Ty Hensley/1st round by NYY/released in 2018, no MLB appearances
2012-IF- Gavin Cecchini/1st round by NYM/played some MLB for Mets late 2016-2017, not played since 2021
2012- C Stryker Trahan/ 1st Round by Arizona/ last played in 2017, no MLB appearances. All A ball
2014- P Foster Griffin/ 1st round by KC/ last played in 2022 in MLB, pitches 8.0 total innings/ now playing for the Yomiuri Giants.
2014- SS Ti’quan Forbes/ 2nd round by Texas Rangers, last played 2022. Topped out at one year of AAA.
2017- P Caden Lemons/2nd round by Brewers/ last played in 2021. Released in 2022. Never made it past 3 games of A ball from Rookie. Good bit of injury.
2017- P Steven Jennings/ 2nd round pick of Pittsburgh/ currently playing AA for Rangers. Played about 390 innings with 50 decisions but never above AA.
2018- OF Joe Gray Jr./ 2nd round pick of Brewers/ currently up to AAA for Omaha after spending last season in Biloxi AA. Played a good amount of ball
2021- P Jackson Jobe/ 1st round pick of Detroit Tigers/ currently ended 2023 in AA ball for 1 game/ 2-4 in A+ ball w/ .98 WHIP
2022- P Jackson Ferris/ 2nd round of Cubs/ played 18 games in A ball/ 2-3 record/77 so in 56/ 1.21 whip
2022- OF Roman Anthony/round 2 of Red Sox/ it to AA in 2023 with a .343 average/
