And in this case, I am not talking about football, basketball, softball or baseball. As has been noted on here, I can be a critic at times of aspects of the school that I believe are not satisfactory, so I just thought I would share this with RG.

I had dinner last night after the game with a couple of sets of parents who just went through Honors College orientation with their kids, one of whom just turned down a $150,000 scholarship at Rhodes to attend Ole Miss. Both are instate and have 35/36s on their ACTs. These are kids who were looking at schools like Emory and Duke, not State or other SEC schools. They said the Orientation that Ole Miss put on was incredible, with many Professors attending. They covered all phases of student life and talked about things like the need to find outlets to replace the time they spent during High School practicing sports and building support groups. They said kids generally don’t leave over grades, they leave because they have not built relationships and they talked about avenues and activities to explore.

The parents, both sets of whom have older children who have attended Ole Miss or other schools, said they had never seen anything like the attention to detail in the multi-day orientation they just attended and could not be bigger cheerleaders for the school. I went through a similar experience in 2018 prior to Boyce and it was nothing like what they described. There appears to be some big reasons Ole Miss is growing beyond being better in football, as Boyce seems to be doing just an incredible job leading our university. Khayat was a great leader in many respects, certainly not athletically, but Boyce focuses on the whole school, he listens to criticism-not Khayat’s strength, and acts and the attention to detail is astounding. The attitude of why not Ole Miss expressed by our girls in softball seems to encompass a lot more than just wining sports teams!

Chancellor Boyce was exactly the leader we needed and right now we have more momentum than I can ever remember, the Ole Miss train is rolling……
