As Neal mentioned below, Rivals.com caught up with 6-foot-7 four-star Rivals100 small forward Micah Thomas at the Under Armour All-America camp this week. Thomas, from Eads, Tenn., visited Ole Miss for the Alabama football game, and that trip made an impression. He's cutting his list soon, and the Rebels appear to be in good shape. Louisiana wide receiver Clyde Lefore-Chriss continues to mention Ole Miss. He had the Rebels in his top five back in May, and yesterday he told Rivals.com Ole Miss is still recruiting him hard.
"Yeah I have a list of top schools. Well, I have schools that talk to me the most - Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, LSU, and Nebraska," Leflore-Chriss said. "I wouldn't say my favorites, but they talk to me the most. Like on an every week basis."
Ben Davis, the No. 1 inside linebacker nationally, has Ole Miss in a list of schools recruiting him the hardest, but he mentions USC, Florida State and LSU as schools certain to get official visits.
"Right now, it would be LSU, Florida State, Alabama, Auburn, Notre Dame, Georgia, Ole Miss, USC and Florida," recruiting him the most.
He lives in Alabama but is originally from Arizona.
We'll catch up with Shea Patterson following The Opening and see how it went from his perspective. I wouldn't get terribly worked up about Elite11 rankings if he doesn't finish in the top couple spots. Some of the competition is a bit gimmicky, and there's points systems for different things. He's impressed everywhere he's been, so I wouldn't pull hair out over whatever happens up there.
On that note, Rivals.com was, for the most part, denied credentials to the event other than the publications that also have magazines or print publications. It's disappointing, but it's not unexpected since we compete against the Nike events with the exclusive Rivals Camp Series. I'll trade this one camp for the more than 30 events we have exclusive access to throughout the year.
